Every year, in May, we publish a physical edition of China Books Review, collecting 25-30 articles focused on books published in the previous calendar year (including the winners of that year’s book prize). We call this our “yearbook,” featuring our best original illustrations and artwork as well as a selection of our reviews, essays, excerpts, profiles and columns, freshly laid out for print. If you missed anything from our output in the previous year, this is a great way to catch up, or to flip through our fare outside the digital world.

Currently, we are distributing this yearbook as a freesheet, at no charge. Copies are limited, and available for pick-up at China Books Review events at Asia Society, New York, or at JF Books in Washington, D.C. Alternatively, if you would like to pay for your own postage, please email us at info@chinabooksreview.com and we can mail you a copy (within the continental U.S.) if there are still copies available.

Our first yearbook, the 2024 edition, came out in May 2025. If you’d like to see your name on the table of contents for the 2025 edition, consider submitting an article!
