
The China Books Podcast has put out a new episode every month since China Books Review launched in October 2023. Talking to the authors of new books on or from China and the Sinophone world, we cover a wide range of topics, from politics to horror fiction, with guests including Paul French and Lijia Zhang.

The host of the first season of the podcast was Mary-Kay Magistad, a journalist who covered East Asia for more than two decade, for NPR and PRI’s The World. From the second year, Alec Ash has hosted the podcast, with guest episodes hosted by Alexander Boyd. Some conversations were also recorded for video at Asia Society’s studio in New York, such as with New Yorker editor Michael Luo talking about his book on the Chinese-American story:
